At Hutchings & Schwappach, we provide high quality legal representation for divorce, custody, child support and other family law cases. Our practice is exclusively family law so we can focus on your family.
We are experienced in vigorously protecting our clients’ rights while providing guidance and reassurance in a supportive environment. We believe in valuing our clients’ experiences and partnering with them to develop an intelligent and effective case strategy.
We understand how to be aggressive when circumstances demand it, but we also know that domestic issues are often best settled through reasoned negotiation. Our goal is to minimize the conflict while finding solutions that work for parents and children.
Emily Schwappach is exclusively focused on representing individuals in family law cases and has been since her admission to the bar in 2009. Prior to private practice, Emily clerked for Judge Sill-Rogers in the Jackson County Family Court. She currently works with clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, modifications of child support, modifications of child custody, custody arrangements between never married parents, step-parent adoptions, grandparent visitation, and adult and minor name changes. She also often serves as a Guardian ad Litem, representing abused or neglected children in court.
Alex Hutchings has dedicated her career exclusively to the practice of family law since graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with her Juris Doctorate in 2008. Alex’s practice is focused on complex, highly contested family law litigation. She often serves as Guardian ad Litem, representing children when issues of abuse and neglect arise. Alex is also a mediator.
